NGC 3820 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble-type Sbc in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 269 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3817 , NGC 3819 , NGC 3822 , NGC 3825 .
The object was discovered on April 29, 1865 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
