IC 2968 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a with an active galaxy core in the constellation Leo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 294 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3937 , NGC 3940 , NGC 3943 , NGC 3947 .

The object was discovered by Hermann Kobold on April 2, 1894 .
