IC 2986 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 140 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light-years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 4020 , IC 2984 , IC 2985 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 6, 1896 .
