IC 4831 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is around 190 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 205,000 light years . The galaxy is considered a member of the IC 4845 group ( LGG 427 ).

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4824 , IC 4828 , IC 4833 , IC 4838 .

The Type II supernova SN 1992N was observed here.

The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 13, 1901 .
