IC 4838 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S / P in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is about 191 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter . The galaxy is considered a member of the IC 4845 group ( LGG 427 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4824 , IC 4828 , IC 4831 , IC 4833 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 13, 1901 .
