NGC 6769 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb / P in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is around 161 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 110,000 light years . Together with NGC 6770 and NGC 6771 , it forms the galaxy trio KTS 59 and is a member of the IC 4845 group ( LGG 427 ).

In the same area of ​​the sky there are still u. a. the galaxies IC 4836 , IC 4842 , IC 4845 .

The object was discovered on August 11, 1836 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
