IC 5152 is an irregular galaxy of Hubble type IA (s) m? in the constellation of Indians in the southern sky and is 4 million light years away from the Milky Way .
Despite a star in the foreground with a magnitude of 7.7 ( HD 209142 ), it is one of the galaxies whose individual stars can be most easily resolved and observed. It is an open question whether IC 5152 still belongs to the local group as a remote member .
The galaxy NGC 7168 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by astronomer DeLisle Stewart in 1899 .
