IC 5186 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Crane in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 220 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 5179 and IC 5199 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on July 19, 1897 .
