IC 5221 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E2 in the constellation Toucan in the southern sky . It is an estimated 474 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light-years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 5215 , IC 5219 , IC 5222 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 21, 1900 .
