IC 5317 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Pegasus on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 525 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 5316 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle in 1897 .
