KB Karlskoga is a Swedish football club from Karlskoga . The men's team of the club, like the previous clubs Karlskoga IF and IFK Bofors, played several seasons in the second highest Swedish league. The ice hockey team became self-employed in 1978 as Bofors IK .

history

Karlskoga IF

When the Swedish league system was introduced in the summer of 1928, Karlskoga IF was assigned to the third division. The team quickly established itself in the front part of the table and in 1932 managed to move up to the second division as second behind Billingsfors IK . In the first season in the higher league, the club played against relegation, which was avoided on the last non-relegation place in front of Majornas IK and Degerfors IF . In the following years things went up: 1935 separated four points distance to league leaders Gårda BK as second in the division 2 Västra of the promotion games to Allsvenskan , a year later it was two points to Billingsfors IK. In the two subsequent years, the club finished second at the end of the season, but the gap to the respective leaders Degerfors IF grew.

In the following years Karlskoga IF continued to play in the front, only in 1940 and 1943 the runner-up was again successful. In the mid-1940s, the club then slipped into relegation battle, but the class could be maintained until 1951. With one point behind the last non-relegation place occupied by Karlstads BIK , the team missed relegation and relegated together with Surahammars IF . After the direct resurgence was missed in the first year in the third division as third in the table behind BK Derby and IK Sleipner , the team returned to the second division the following year as second behind Redbergslids IK .

Karlskoga IF's recent stay in the second division lasted three seasons before the club and SK Sifhälla were relegated again. Initially, the team established itself in the front of the table without being able to intervene in the promotion race. At the beginning of the 1960s, the club slipped into the battle for relegation, which was regularly accomplished.

IFK Bofors

The IFK Bofors rose to third class in 1937. In the following years the team established itself in the top of the league. In 1945, the team finished second in the table behind Deje IK, the best result in the club's history to date, but was seven points behind the leaders. The following year the club achieved the relay victory of Division 3 Nordvästra Norra , in the promotion round he failed after two 2-3 defeats at IF Viken . In 1947 IFK Bofors was the victim of a league reform. Although the team was third in the table, due to a combination of the third division from 17 to four seasons, this meant forced relegation. There were four seasons in the fourth division before the team rose again. Initially, the team played in the midfield of the table. In 1956 she won 13 of their 18 season games and rose as the season winner of Division 3 Västra Svealand in the second division.

The team from IFK Bofors immediately played against relegation. In the first year she was eighth ahead of Surahammars IF, IK City , Avesta AIK and Karlstads BIK in the league, in the following year she was eleven points missing from the last non-relegation place occupied by Hallstahammars SK . In the third division, the club first settled in the middle of the table before he was relegated at the end of the 1963 season.

The merger association

After the end of the season, Karlskoga IF and IFK Bofors joined forces and formed IF Karlskoga-Bofors 63 . The club operating under the abbreviation KB'63 immediately won the relay championship in Division 3 Västra Svealand , but missed relegation in the second division. It took two years until they were promoted again, but the team could not hold up in the second division again. With 16 wins in 22 games, she dominated the league in the following season and rose immediately before Trollhättans IF . Henceforth running under the name KB Karlskoga , the club stayed in the second division. It was not until 1977 that he was relegated again, accompanied by IK Sleipner and Lycksele IF .

In 1981 KB Karlskoga missed the promotion round to the second division only because of the worse goal difference compared to the same point competitor BK Forward as second in the table. This was followed by a crash that led to relegation to fourth class two years later. 1985 managed to rise again, in the following season, however, the team fell victim to a league reform and rose again to the fourth division. The team ran there until 1989, after being promoted they first settled in the front of the third division. The renewed relegation in 1993 was followed by five years in the fourth division.

KB Karlskoga returned to the third division through wins in the promotion games against Topkapi IK . The stay lasted two years, as a result, the club slipped into fifth division. After the recovery in 2006, the club held in the fourth division.
