The IOV Omnibusverkehr GmbH Ilmenau is next to the RBA regional bus Arnstadt GmbH one of two in the Ilm-Kreis local bus companies, which for the PTA, the Ilm-Kreis passenger mbH , perform bus transport. The bus company is based in the Thuringian university town of Ilmenau . The company maintains a depot in both Ilmenau and Großbreitenbach .

Until December 31, 2017, Ilm-Kreis Personenverkehrsgesellschaft mbH (IKPV) held a 34% stake in IOV Omnibusverkehr GmbH Ilmenau, while 66% was owned by a private shareholder. As of January 1, 2018, the shares in IKPV were increased to 100%. The IKPV is 100% owned by the Ilm district.
