I am young and need the money is the debut album by the German rapper Eko Fresh . It was released on November 3, 2003 via the Subword and BMG labels .

Eko Fresh himself and DJ Ses served as executive producers on the album . The latter also contributed four beats. The other songs were produced by the music producers Bazzazian , Tai Jason , PhreQuincy , RZA , J-Luv , Thomas Hofmann , Kingsize, DJ Sam, Hakan Yalcin, UG, Jonas Saeed, William Hall, DJ Scream, GOD and Hantaan.

I am young and need the money entered the German album charts at number 16 on November 17, 2003, and in the following weeks it was 35 and 48. In total, it stayed in the top 100 for seven weeks. The album did not reach the charts in Austria and Switzerland.

The first single was the title song Ich bin Jung und sucht den Geld (I am young and need the money) released on October 5, 2003 , which is a cover version of the piece The World's Greatest by R. Kelly . The release was even more successful than the album itself and reached number 5 in the German charts. The second single Ich will dich was released on January 26, 2004 and ranked 57th in the charts. In addition to the videos for the singles, a music video for the track Dünya Dönüyor was also shot.

Stefan Johannesberg from laut.de rated the album with four out of a possible five points. Eko Freshs Style is already "extensive and ripe" and he is taking "Rap to the next level" with his debut. Even if he polarizes with his style, which is “hung with double rhymes and ironically arrogant”, seems “nothing fake” and his biggest plus point is “honesty”.
