The hedgehog bed ( 373.8  m above sea  level ) is the northernmost elevation of the Malsburg Forest and the entire Habichtswälder Bergland in the Kassel district , northern Hesse .

geography

location

The forest section, separated from the central Malsburg Forest by an elongated clearing at Gut Sieberhausen , is located on the junction of the municipal boundaries of Breuna in the west and north, Calden in the east and Zierenberg in the south. It is located immediately southeast of the Breunaer districts Ober- and Niederlistingen , about 2 km east of the Caldener district Obermeiser and just as far northwest of the Zierenberg district Hohenborn .

While the highest elevation of the hedgehog bed rises on the district of Breuna, the southeastern pre-summit Königskopf (approx. 347  m ) lies  on Zierenberger Grund. To the northwest and north, the landscape falls over the federal highway 7 into the valley of the warm Ruhrbach tributary , to the east and south into the Warmetal and to the southwest it merges into the main part of the Malsburg forest via the aforementioned clearing. Most of the hedgehog bed belongs to the Habichtswald Nature Park .

Natural allocation

The hedgehog bed belongs in the natural spatial main unit group West Hessisches Bergland (No. 34) and in the main unit Habichtswälder Bergland (342) to the subunit Malsburg Forest (342.4). The landscape falls to the east into the natural area Westfuffelner Senke (343.50), which is part of the main unit West Hessian Sink (343) to the sub-unit North Hawk Forest Foreland (343.5). To the north it falls into the Bever-Diemel-Kalkbergland ( Liebenauer Bergland ; 361.02) natural area , which belongs to the Brakeler Kalkgebiet (361.0) in the main unit Oberwälder Land (361) , and to the northwest into the Diemelbörde (360.1); Both sub-units belong to the main unit group Upper Weserbergland (36).

tourism

The Märchenlandweg hiking trail leads directly to the west along the edge of the forest from the hedgehog bed in the section between Niederlistingen and Gut Sieberhausen . The extra tour H1 of the Habichtswaldsteig runs around and through its forest area . From the hedgehog bed , the view falls to the northwest to the Warburger Börde with the striking Desenberg and to the southeast across the Warmetal, for example, to Hohen Gras , the highest mountain in the Habichtswälder Bergland.
