Igor Prieložný

Igor Prieložný (born February 25, 1957 in Trnava , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak volleyball player and now a volleyball coach.

Career

Prieložný played 287 games for the national team of Czechoslovakia and was a world-class player as an outside attacker with a height of 2.01 m. The highlights of his international playing career were the second place at the Universiade 1977 in Sofia, the fifth place at the 1978 World Cup in Italy , the seventh place at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, the Vice European Championship 1985 in the Netherlands and the third place at the 1985 World Cup in Japan .

In Czechoslovakia he played for Slavia and Red Star Bratislava , where he was also a player-coach. In Germany he was a player coach at TuS Kriftel from 1987 .

After finishing his active career, he became a coach at Bundesliga club VfB Friedrichshafen in 1989 . At the same time, he was assistant coach of the German men's national team . From 1990 to 1994 he was then a full-time national coach. His greatest successes here were two fourth places at the European Championships in 1991 and 1993 , participation in the World League in 1992 , 1993 and 1994 and a ninth place at the 1994 World Cup in Greece . His other coaching stations were the TV Düren , the Austrian national team , Hotvolleys Wien , the Swiss club MTV Näfels , the Polish club Jastrzębie Borynia, the Czech national team and the Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel . In 2011/12 he was in charge of the German Bundesliga club RWE Volleys Bottrop .
