Ilson de Jesus Montanari
Ilson de Jesus Montanari (born July 18, 1959 in Sertãozinho , State of São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Curial Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and as Vice- Chamberlain of the Holy Roman Church, Deputy Chamberlain Kevin Farell .
Life
Ilson de Jesus Montanari first completed a degree in law and economics . From 1985 to 1988 he studied at the Pontifical Brazilian Pius College in Rome philosophy and at the Pontifical Gregorian University Theology . On August 18, 1989, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Ribeirão Preto . After pastoral work in his hometown of Sertãozinho, he taught at the Research Center of the Archdiocese of Ribeirão Preto and from 1990 to 1994 at the Diocesan Seminary of the Archdiocese of Uberaba . From 1993 to 2002 he was Chancellor, later Pastoral Coordinator of the Diocese of Ribeirão Preto and Vicar General . After a postgraduate course in dogmatics at the Gregorian, he was in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. called to the Congregation of Bishops in Rome. Benedict XVI. appointed him chaplain to His Holiness ( Monsignor ) in 2011 .
On 12 October 2013 it appointed Pope Francis to Titular Archbishop of Caput Cilla and ordered him to the secretary of the Congregation for Bishops . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Ribeirão Preto, Moacir Silva , on November 7, 2013. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of São Paulo , Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer , and the Archbishop of Belo Horizonte , Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo .
On January 28, 2014, Pope Francis also appointed him Secretary of the College of Cardinals . Montanari is responsible for the organizational preparation and implementation of cardinal assemblies, the so-called consistories . He is also secretary in the papal election. On May 1, 2020, Pope Francis also appointed him Vice Chamberlain of the Holy Roman Church .
