publication

Into the Unknown plays a role in one of the film's key scenes. Elsa is alone and reacts to a voice ( Aurora Aksnes ) that calls her. If she is initially negative towards the voice and resists the call, she changes her mind with the song and is now ready to embark on the adventure. The original version of the song is considered to be   Panic! Electric guitar music played at the Disco replayed during closing credits. In the German version, a version sung by Mark Forster can be heard during the credits.

On the official soundtrack released on November 15, 2019, the version sung by Idina Menzel is the third and that of Panic! Cover version played at the Disco for the ninth track. The versions by Menzel and Panic! at the Disco can also be found on the German soundtrack (numbers 26 and 9). Willemijn Verkaik's version of Where No One Was is No. 3, Mark Forster's No. 12 on the German soundtrack.

Idina Menzel sang the song at the Oscar gala, but was supported by the interpreters for the versions in Denmark , Germany , Japan , Latin America , Norway , Poland , Russia , Spain and Thailand , who each sang lines in their language versions.

background

Like the film, the song takes up inspiration from traditional Norwegian culture . The melody sung by the background voice is based on a Norwegian shepherd's call with which cows were called back to the stable. The high pitch of the voice corresponds to that with which the women of Norway communicated over greater distances.

reception

Into The Unknown is understood as a continuation of the song Let It Go from the first part The Ice Queen . If Elsa recognized her powers with Let It Go , she now accept the reputation of the associated responsibility with Into The Unknown . She sings this song, as well as Let It Go and the Show Yourself sung by Elsa later in Frozen , when she is alone and makes a decision. This would emphasize Elsa's introverted nature. On the other hand, it is interpreted that Elsa expresses loneliness with her powers at the end of the song. However, with the end of Elsa's uncertainties and pressing questions remain unresolved.

International versions

When it was released in cinemas, the film had 47 dubbed versions worldwide, the song Into the Unknown 46 versions in total: the French version, sung by Charlotte Hervieux, was used in both the dubbed version in France and French Canada, although the rest of the dubbing was independent. Dubbing released also included versions in Tamil , Telugu, and Northern Sami , which were recorded for the sequel, although the first film was never dubbed in those languages.

As in the first part of Frozen , the Dutch musical actress Willemijn Verkaik sang both the Dutch and the German version.
