Nataša Mirković

Nataša Mirković-De Ro (born August 26, 1972 in Zenica ) is a Bosnian singer ( soprano ) and actress .

Mirkovic grew up in Sarajevo , where she by her father with the folklore of the Balkans became familiar. She began taking piano lessons at the age of six, but had little luck with her piano teacher, so she stopped training at the age of eight. In middle school she began singing training; She also worked as a radio presenter and was a member of the "Collegium Artisticum" with a wide range of repertoire from Renaissance music to Bosnian folk songs to contemporary jazz. In addition, she worked as a studio musician in jazz, pop and rock music. Since 1991 she has been studying musicology in Sarajevo. She had to interrupt her studies due to the war in Bosnia . In 1992 and 1993 she lived in Germany before continuing her musicological studies in Graz from 1994 and then completing an apprenticeship as a classical singer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz .

In 1996 Mirković made his debut as Juliet in Sergei Dreznin's musical Romeo & Juliet in Sarajevo . She had engagements at the Graz Chamber Opera, the Graz Opera House and the Vienna Volksoper . She performed Schubert's Winterreise with the hurdy-gurdy player Matthias Loibner . She was also a member of the Balkan jazz formation Jazzwa , the jazz trio Extra Virgine with singer Agnes Heginger and percussionist Ingrid Oberkanins and a children's project with tuba player Jon Sass . She also works with Johannes Berauer in the field of early music and with the Sandy Lopicic Orkestar . The film composer Gabriel Yared was interested in her interpreting the theme song for Angelina Jolie's war drama In the Land of Blood and Honey , as well as having a musical role in the film The Promise by Terry George . André Heller brought her to the Burgtheater in Vienna in 2017 for his manifesto against xenophobia (“Recognizes the invisible cord that connects everyone with everyone”) .

Mirković teaches her own singing method of universal voice leading all over Europe, which she also presented in a textbook.

In October 2019 she was appointed university professor for singing at the Institute for Popular Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna for five years .
