Ippolit Petrovich Prjanischnikow ( Russian Ипполит Петрович Прянишников ; born August 14 . Jul / 26. August  1847 greg. In Kerch ; † 11. November 1921 in Moscow ) was a Russian baritone , director and voice teacher .

Life

Prjanischnikow studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory from 1873 to 1874 . In 1875 he made his debut in Milan in Gaetano Donizetti's Maria di Rohan . He then sang in Milan, Bologna , Parma , Genoa , Turin and Florence . In 1878 he made his successful debut in St. Petersburg in Anton Rubinstein's Demon , after which he was a soloist at the Mariinsky Theater . His prominent roles included Onegin and Mazeppa in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Mazeppa and Misgir in Rimsky-Korsakov's Snow Maiden as well as Rigoletto and Amonasro in Verdi's Rigoletto and Aida .

In 1886 Prjanischnikow was called to Tbilisi for a guest role . He then became a singer and director of the state opera there . He also worked as a director, so that the young singer Lidija Svyagina rehearsed her roles under his direction . When the state opera passed into private hands in 1889, he became the organizer and head of the first opera company in Russia, which initially worked in Kiev and from 1892 in Moscow . Alexander Borodin's Prince Igor and Rimsky-Korsakov's May Night were performed in particular .

In 1893 Prjanischnikow left the stage and devoted himself to teaching. One of his many students was Georges Baklanoff .
