Career

Chasowa first appeared at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Sollefteå, Sweden , when she won the bronze medal and gold with the Russian relay in the mass start competition over 15 kilometers freestyle. In the sprint competition, she took 25th place. At the beginning of the 2003/04 season she started in the Continental Cup and achieved several top ten placements. She was then nominated for the World Cup . In her first World Cup race in Kuusamo, Finland, over 10 kilometers classic, she finished 42nd. In the skiathlon , however, she was able to win her first World Cup points as 22nd. She won three gold medals at the 2004 Junior World Championships in Stryn , Norway . She won over 15 km classic (mass start), 5 km freestyle and with the Russian relay. In the 2004/05 season she achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup with seventh place in Ramsau . She finished the season in 26th place in the overall ranking of the distance competitions. The following year Chasowa started only in one World Cup competition. In Kuusamo, Finland, she finished 13th over 10 kilometers of freestyle. At the U23 World Championships in Kranj in 2006 , she won the silver medal over 10 kilometers in classic and skiathlon behind Justyna Kowalczyk . Chasowa returned to the World Cup in the 2006/07 season and placed in the top 30 athletes several times. The Tour de Ski 2006/07 she finished in 25th place. In the overall ranking of the World Cup, she finished 39th at the end of the season. At the 2007 World Championships in Sapporo , Japan , she finished 24th in the skiathlon, and it was the only World Cup start of her career.

In 2007, Chasowa tested positive for furosemide in the Russian team's training camp in Turkey and was banned from the FIS for two years for doping . Furosemide itself does not have a performance-enhancing effect, but due to its dehydrating effect it is used as a masking agent to eliminate any traces of ingested doping agents from the body. Chasowa stated that a few days before the test, on the advice of a neighbor, she had taken an agent that may have contained furosemide. After the doping ban she returned to the World Cup in the 2009/10 season . After she won the traditional preparatory competitions in Muonio with a win and a third place, she finished tenth in the 10 km freestyle at the season opener in Beitostølen . In the next competition over 10 km classic in Kuusamo, Finland, Chasowa was able to improve this performance and took second place behind Justyna Kowalczyk. Chasowa celebrated her first World Cup victory in December 2009 in Davos , Switzerland , when she was able to prevail over Charlotte Kalla and Kristina Šmigun-Vähi over 10 km freestyle with a 30-second lead .

Chasowa took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . She started in four competitions and always placed in the top twenty participants. In addition to place twenty in the 10 km freestyle and thirteenth place in the skiathlon, she was eighth in the 4 × 5 km relay with the Russian relay. She crowned her good performance by winning the bronze medal in the team sprint. When Evi Sachsenbacher-Stehle and Claudia Nystad won , she came third together with Natalja Korosteljowa . Her placements in the overall World Cup were thirteen in the overall standings and ninth in the Distance World Cup at the end of the 2009/10 season, the best of her career. After she paused in the 2010/11 season due to pregnancy, she came in the 2011/12 season with 13 appearances in the World Cup, five times in the points. In the 2012/13 season she took 30th place at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo and 31st place at the Tour de Ski 2012/13 . The following year she came 20th in the Tour de Ski 2013/14 . At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she came in 49th place in the sprint, 28th place in the 30 km mass start race and 26th place in the skiathlon. In the 2014/15 season she started in the Eastern Europe Cup . Her best placement was fourth place in the 10 km freestyle in Rybinsk . After the Russian championships in March 2015, she ended her career.
