Cable car to Isérables
|Location of the municipality|
Isérables covers an area of 1532 hectares between the Rhône plain ( ) and the Pointe des Champs Ferret as the highest point in the municipality at The place itself is around The neighboring municipalities of Isérables are in the northeast, east and southeast Nendaz and in the southwest, west and northwest Riddes .
The oldest mention comes from a purchase agreement from 1227. The municipality was granted independence on March 13, 1798. Due to the topographical location on a steep slope, the inhabitants lived isolated and de facto independent for a long time . This only changed with the construction of the Riddes – Isérables cable car (1942) and a road in the mid-1970s.
Today the number of inhabitants (1986: 1,025 inhabitants) is falling, mainly due to the decline in the birth rate and the departure of young people.
