Isérables is a political municipality and a civil parish in the Martigny district in the canton of Valais in Switzerland .
geography
Isérables covers an area of 1532 hectares between the Rhône plain ( 460 m above sea level ) and the Pointe des Champs Ferret as the highest point in the municipality at 2742 m above sea level. M. The place itself is around 1100 m above sea level. M. The neighboring municipalities of Isérables are in the northeast, east and southeast Nendaz and in the southwest, west and northwest Riddes .
history
The oldest mention comes from a purchase agreement from 1227. The municipality was granted independence on March 13, 1798. Due to the topographical location on a steep slope, the inhabitants lived isolated and de facto independent for a long time . This only changed with the construction of the Riddes – Isérables cable car (1942) and a road in the mid-1970s.

Today the number of inhabitants (1986: 1,025 inhabitants) is falling, mainly due to the decline in the birth rate and the departure of young people.
