Mateo Jasik (* 1978 in Breslau , Poland ) is a German- Polish singer , rapper and music producer , who became known as a member of the group Culcha Candela . He is also known by his stage names Itchyban and Itchy .

Life

Jasik grew up in Breslau, Poland, until he was seven and then moved to West Berlin with his mother in the mid-1980s . After graduating from high school , various internships and a temporary stay in the USA, he went to the International Business School in Berlin in 2001 , which he left after three semesters.

In 2001 Jasik established a series of parties in the capital, which he called "Culcha Candela". The contacts he generated at this time and his enthusiasm for music led mid-2002 in the establishment of a reggae - / Dancehall - / Hip-hop - band , which he also Culcha Candela called. In addition to Jasik, who initially appeared under the stage name Itchyban (or Itchy), Johnny Strange and Lafrotino were among the founding members. In 2004 the first Culcha Candela album Union Verdadera was released , which entered the German album charts at number 52 . In the meantime, Culcha Candela has released six studio albums, played over 900 concerts and received various platinum and gold awards.

In addition to his work as a composer and lyricist for Culcha Candela, Jasik founded the project "Itchino" with DJ Chino (also with Culcha Candela). He and his team "WIR" also work as a producer and songwriter for other musicians and, together with Chino, write columns for the magazine IN . He also voiced Pedro the bird in 2011 in the film Rio .

In 2011 Jasik became known to a wider public as a jury member for Sing, if you can on RTL II . He was also a guest coach for pop stars on ProSieben and for Heroes of Tomorrow on ORF . In the tenth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar on RTL, he has been a juror alongside Tom and Bill Kaulitz and Dieter Bohlen since January 5, 2013 .
