Ivan Gotti
Ivan Gotti (born March 28, 1969 in San Pellegrino Terme , Lombardy ) is a former Italian cyclist .
Career
His greatest successes were winning the overall ranking of the Giro d'Italia in 1997 and 1999 . In 1999 he won because the day before the final in Milan, the previous wearer of the pink jersey , Marco Pantani , had been excluded due to an excessively high hematocrit value. Gotti also won a stage of the Tour of Catalonia in 2001 . In 2002 he ended his career.
doping
The suspicion that Gotti in his time with the team Ballan EPO - Doping had driven was confirmed later. His 1995 samples had a hematocrit of 57.
Ivan Gotti was sentenced to five months probation in 2001 for possession of doping products .
