Ivo Hentschel

Ivo Hentschel (* 1976 in Ostfildern ) is a German conductor and pianist .

Career

From 1996 to 2003 Hentschel studied piano at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim with Michael Hauber and also cello with Reimund Korupp . From 2001 to 2006 he studied conducting at the Mannheim University of Music with Klaus Eisenmann and Georg Grün . He attended master classes for piano a. a. with Jewgeni Malinin , Andrzej Jasiński and Thérèse Dussaut and for conducting with Michael Dittrich , Colin Metters , Jorma Panula , Gunter Kahlert , Thomas Ungar , Wolf-Dieter Hauschild and Jac van Steen . Since 2005 he has received a scholarship from the Conductor Forum of the German Music Council .

Artistic work as a conductor

In 2001 Hentschel made his debut as an opera conductor at the Heidelberg Castle Festival . In 2003 he became an assistant at the Stamitz Orchestra Mannheim . Since 2004 he has been the musical director of the Junge Musiktheater Hamburg , where he a. a. Wagner's Ring des Nibelungen in its own children's version and Strauss' Fledermaus performed. Since 2004 he has been active as the deputy musical director, accompanist and conductor at the Zwingenberg Castle Festival .

In addition, he has been teaching at the Viernheim Municipal Music School since 2000 and is the musical director and conductor of the orchestra of the vhs Heidelberg .

  • 1995: 1st prize at the Mattaes piano competition in Stuttgart
  • 1998: 2nd prize at the Beethoven Piano Trio Competition of the Baden-Württemberg University of Music (Wolfgang Hofmann Foundation)
  • 2001: Winner of culture prizes from SAP and the city of Walldorf
  • 2005: Admission to the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council after winning the competition with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra
  • 2006: Winner of the 3rd international Jorma Panula conducting competition in Vaasa / Finland
