Ivoti , officially Portuguese Município de Ivoti , is a small town in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located about 55 km north of the capital Porto Alegre on the Rota Romântica and borders on Estância Velha , Lindolfo Collor , Presidente Lucena , Morro Reuter , Dois Irmãos and Novo Hamburgo .
According to the 2010 census, it had 19,874 inhabitants, which was estimated at 23,880 inhabitants on July 1, 2018. The area in 2017 is 63.151 km² (previously 74.25 km², of which the urban area accounted for 16 km² and the rural area 58.25 km²). The population density is 314.7 inhabitants / km².
history
Kern is a German colony in the Vale de Rio dos Sinos called Berghahnerschneiss , founded between 1824 and 1826 by immigrants mainly from the Hunsrück . From 1864 it was in the third Bom Jardim district of São Leopoldo . On May 31, 1938, the place was renamed Ivoti , which means "blossom" in the Tupi language. On September 8, 1959, Vila de Ivoti was subordinated to the newly founded city of Estância Velha during territorial reforms and after a referendum on July 12, 1964, on October 19, 1964, it was raised to the municipality of Ivoti.
economy
In the first sector (agriculture), garden culture with fruits and flowers as well as the cultivation of beans and cassava is strongly represented, as well as the extraction of tannins from plants, meat from poultry and pig breeding and milk. In the second sector, the lime industry, leather production, textiles, milk products, animal feed and juice production all contribute to the economy.
