Ján Pardavý (born September 8, 1971 in Trenčín , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player and today's coach who was active for many years at HC Dukla Trenčín in the Slovakian extra league. He also played for HC Slovnaft Vsetín , Djurgårdens IF , HPK Hämeenlinna , HC Znojemští Orli , MODO hockey and most recently for Étoile Noire de Strasbourg . His son Ján Pardavý junior is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Ján Pardavý began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with HC Dukla Trenčín , for whose professional team he was active in the Czechoslovak first division from 1990 to 1993 . With his team, the winger won the Czechoslovak championship in the 1991/92 season . After the division of Czechoslovakia, he immediately won the Slovakian championship title with Dukla in the 1993/94 season during the premiere season of the Slovakian Extra League . He was able to repeat this success with his team in the 1996/97 season . With 42 goals he was also the top scorer in the league. For the 1999/2000 season he moved to HC Slovnaft Vsetín from the Czech extra league , with which he won the Czech championship title in the following season . He himself played a big part in this success with ten goals as the league's top scorer in the extra league playoffs.
From 2001 to 2003 Pardavý played in Northern Europe, where he was active for a year for Djurgårdens IF from the Swedish Elitserien , as well as for HPK Hämeenlinna from the Finnish SM-liiga . For the 2003/04 season , the long-time Slovak national player joined HC Znojemští Orli from the Czech extra league . At the beginning of the following season , however, he returned to his home club HC Dukla Trenčín from the Slovak extra league. In the 2005/06 season the right- shooter scored 25 scorer points for MODO Hockey from the Elitserien in a total of 52 games, including nine goals. From 2006 to 2008 he was again under contract with HC Dukla Trenčín, but came in the 2006/07 season to a goal in four games for Lokomotive Yaroslavl from the Russian Super League . From 2008 to 2010 he was on the ice for HC 05 Banská Bystrica in the Slovakian Extraliga and was elected to the All-Star Team of the Extraliga in the 2009/10 season . Then the veteran returned to his hometown club HC Dukla Trenčín, where he ran up as team captain until 2013.
After three years with the Étoile Noire de Strasbourg in the French Ligue Magnus , he ended his career in 2016. He then became a coach at MHK Dubnica and in 2017 assistant coach at his hometown club Dukla Trenčín.
International
For Slovakia , Pardavý took part in the 1997 , 1998 , 1999 , 2000 and 2001 world championships. He was also in his country's squad for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and 2002 in Salt Lake City . At the 2000 World Cup, he and his team won the silver medal.
