The 1991/92 season of the 1st division was the 49th regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . In the playoff final , Dukla Trenčín prevailed with 3-1 wins against TJ Škoda Plzeň . For the team it was their first ever Czechoslovak championship . Zetor Brno rose as a loser in the relegation against ŠKP PS Poprad in the second division. Its place was taken by Motor České Budějovice , who won the league qualification against AC Nitra with 3-1 victories.

Compared to the previous season, the league was divided into two groups of seven teams each. The total number of games per team in the main round was 38 games. Then the two best in the group qualified directly for the playoff quarter-finals, while the teams in places three to six had to go to the pre-play-offs.

Play-off qualification

Dukla Jihlava clearly defeated Slovan Bratislava 3-0 .

Poldi Kladno clearly prevailed against DS Olomouc with 3-0 wins.

Sparta ČKD Prague qualified 3-1 wins for the quarterfinals.

The VSŽ Košice defeated the HC Pardubice with 3-2 victories.
