The 1954/55 season of the 1st division was the twelfth regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . With five points in the final tournament, Rudá Hvězda Brno prevailed. For the team it was their first ever Czechoslovak championship .

In contrast to the previous season, the main round was played in two groups of eight teams each. Due to the implementation of the first and second leg within the groups, the total number of games per team in the main round was 14 games. The two best teams in each group qualified for the final tournament, which was played in a simple round and the winners became champions. The bottom two of the group were relegated and replaced by the top two in the promotion round of the 2nd division.

The league's top scorer was Miroslav Klůc from Baník Chomutov, who scored 25 goals in his team's 17 games.

1st league qualification

The winners of the six 2nd division groups played in a round trip for admission to the 1st division for the following season. The two teams with the highest points, Baník Kladno and Slovan Bratislava , prevailed with 16 and 14 points respectively.
