Zdeněk Trávníček (born May 13, 1968 in Karviná , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player and was last head coach of SC Riessersee from the 2nd national ice hockey league in the 2011/12 season .
Career
As a player
Trávníček began his career in the 1985/86 season with the Czech second division club SK Královo Pole and scored twelve points scorer in 36 games in his debut season. After only one season at SK Královo Pole, he moved to Dukla Jihlava in the Czechoslovak first division . There he came in two years, however, only to three missions before he came to league competitor TJ Gottwaldov for the 1988/89 season and there for 12 missions. After only one season he moved back to SK Královo Pole and after this brief interlude, Trávníček went to Germany for the 1st EV Weiden in the third class league for the 1991/92 season . There, the defender scored 57 points scorer in just 43 games, so he for 1992/93 season for SV Bayreuth in the second hockey league changed. There he was able to score 41 points in 44 games and moved to the first-class EC Hedos Munich in the ice hockey Bundesliga for the following season 1993/94 . After a successful season Trávníček with the EC Hedos Munich was indeed champion, due to the indebtedness of the club this was relocated to the Maddogs Munich . Here Trávníček remained until the final end of the Maddogs Munich in December 1994. Following the insolvency of Maddogs München moved Trávníček then in 1995 to the SERC Wild Wings to there the 1994/95 season to end. Trávníček stayed another year at SERC Wild Wings and scored 26 points in 50 games in the German Ice Hockey League before joining the Krefeld Penguins for the 1996/97 season. This was also his last season in the German top flight and moved to the 1997/98 season for Heilbronner EC and stayed there before for almost two seasons, he during the 1998-99 season for league rivals Düsseldorf EG where he total completed one and a half seasons before the season 2000/01 hired at REV Bremerhaven and completed two strong seasons, but moved to the third-class Dresdner Eislöwen in the league for the 2002/03 season. For the 2004/05 season he moved one last time, this time to the fourth-class Rostock EC in the Regionalliga Ost , where he ended his career during the season.
As a trainer
In the following 2005/06 season Trávníček made his debut behind the gang at the fourth-rate Blue Lions Leipzig and was also runner-up in the regional league in the first year of coaching. In the 2006/07 season , his team took 1st place after regular time and also won the playoff final, which entitled the Blue Lions to promotion to the league . The Blue Lions Leipzig took advantage of their promotion rights and started the 2007/08 season in the third highest division. After two very successful seasons under Trávníček, the Blue Lions Leipzig entered the ice hockey regional league for the 2009/10 season due to financial difficulties . The Blue Lions Leipzig, under the leadership of Trávníček, took first place after the last season, but found themselves in financial difficulties again, which is why the Blue Lions Leipzig stopped playing and Trávníček had to look for a new employer for the new season. He found this in December 2010 with the Wölfen Freiburg , when he replaced the coach Markus Berwanger after a series of defeats .
In August 2011 it became known that Trávníček was taking over the coaching position at SC Riessersee from Marcus Bleicher , who had left the club due to disagreements with managing director Ralph Bader.
In the 2013/14 season Trávníček took over the post of head coach at the WSV Sterzing Broncos in the Italian Serie A. There he was on leave in January 2014.
