The season 1968/69 of the first division was the 26th regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . With 29 wins and one draw on 36 match days, ASD Dukla Jihlava prevailed and won the third Czechoslovak championship title in the club's history. Motor České Budějovice rose to the second division, the 1. ČNHL, while Škoda Plzeň made promotion to the first division in the promotion round.

As in the previous season, the league was played with ten teams. Since each team played two home and two away games against each group opponent, the total number of games per team was 36 games. The last placed in the table was relegated directly to the respective national championship.
