The season 1958/59 of the 1st league was the 16th regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . With 31 points after the main round, the TJ SONP Kladno prevailed. For the team it was their first ever Czechoslovak championship .

mode

As in the previous season, twelve teams took part in the first division, which played the main round in a joint group. After the first and second leg, the total number of games per team was 22 games. The championship leader was at the end of the season. The last two teams were relegated directly to the 2nd division.

1st league qualification

The two winners of their respective 2nd league group, TJ Jiskra SZ Litvínov and TJ Slezan Opava rose to the 1st league for the next season.
