The 1969/70 season of the first division was the 27th regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . With 52 points from 36 games, the army sports club Dukla Jihlava prevailed. For the team it was their fourth Czechoslovak championship title . The TJ Gottwaldov rose with 21 points as bottom of the table in the second division .

mode

As in the previous season, the league was played with ten teams. Since each team played two home and two away games against each group opponent, the total number of games per team was 36 games. Champion became the winner of the main round. The bottom of the table was relegated directly to the respective national championship.

1st league qualification

The winners of the three second division groups, Motor České Budějovice , Baník ČSA Karviná and LVS Poprad , as well as the group runner-up Dukla Pisek with the highest points played in a round trip for admission to the first division for the following season. České Budějovice prevailed with eleven points.
