As in the previous season, twelve teams took part in the first division, which played the main round in a joint group. After the first and second leg, the total number of games per team was 22 games. Then the first six teams played the champions, and the remaining six teams played for relegation. Champion became the winner of the final round. The two last-placed teams in the relegation round relegated directly to the 2nd division, the teams in ninth and tenth places then had to play the two teams together with the winners of the four groups in the 2nd division that were in the 1st division in the following season. League were allowed to compete. Both the final and the relegation round took place in a two-legged manner, so that each team played ten more games. The points from the main round were taken over in both groups.
The winners of the four second division groups played in the first and second leg together with the third and fourth from bottom of the first division to participate in this in the following season. The two first division teams TJ Gottwaldov and TJ Spartak LZ Plzeň achieved relegation, while the other four teams had to stay in the second division.
