The 1984/85 season of the first division was the 42nd regular staging of the top ice hockey division in Czechoslovakia . The army sports club Dukla Jihlava prevailed with 70 points . For the team it was their eleventh Czechoslovak championship title . The TJ Vítkovice rose to the second division.

mode

As in the previous season, the league was played with twelve teams. Since each team played two home and two away games against each group opponent, the total number of games per team was 44 games. Champion became the winner of the main round. As in the previous year, the bottom of the table had to compete in the first division qualification against the winners of the two national championships.

Top scorer

The best scorers of the league were together Vladimír Růžička from CHZ Litvínov and Oldřich Válek from master Dukla Jihlava, who scored 38 goals in 41 and 43 games respectively. The top scorer of the league was Miroslav Ihnačák from VSŽ Košice with a total of 66 points.

1st league qualification

The winners of the two national championships, Poldi SONP Kladno and PS Poprad played against the bottom of the table in the first division, the TJ Vítkovice, in a round-trip for admission to the first division for the following season and relegation. Poldi SONP Kladno prevailed with eight points from four wins and rose to the first division, while TJ Vítkovice was relegated to the second division.
