Petr Rosol (born June 20, 1964 in Znojmo , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player and current coach .

Career

Petr Rosol was born in Znojmo , but grew up in Ústí nad Labem . He went through all the junior teams of the local ice hockey club, Slovan Ústí nad Labem , and made his debut during the 1980/81 season for the club's men's team in the 1. ČNHL, the then second division. At the age of 16 he moved to CHZ Litvínov , for whose senior team he was initially active from 1981 to 1983 in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak division. Then he had to do his military service and played from 1983 to 1985 for the army sports club ASD Dukla Jihlava . With Dukla Jihlava he won the Czechoslovak championship in the 1983/84 and 1984/85 seasons . From 1985 to 1991 the winger played again for Litvínov in the first division, where he was the best assists in the top Czechoslovak league in the 1989/90 season . The 1990/91 season he completed parallel to the game operation with Litvínov in the Italian Serie A1 at SHC Fassa . At SHC Fassa, he also began the following season before joining HC Sierre from the Swiss National League B for the playoffs .

The 1992/93 season spent mostly Rosol in Lugano from the National League A . For the Swiss, he scored 20 points scorer in 24 games, five of which were goals. Then he returned for six games to his home club from Litvínov in Czechoslovakia. From 1993 to 1999 the Czech played continuously for the NLB participant HC Martigny . From 1999 to 2001 he played for HC Litvínov from the Czech Extraliga, which was newly founded after the division of Czechoslovakia . In the 2001/02 season he was at EHC Visp in the National League B under contract, but completed only two games for the team, in which he scored one goal and three assists. The two-time Olympic participant last played in Germany in the 2002/03 season for the ESC Saale-Teufel in the fourth-class ice hockey regional league and in the 2003/04 season for the Rostock EC in the third-class ice hockey league , before he started his active career shortly before ended his 40th birthday.

In winter 2005 he became the assistant coach of Vladimír Jeřábek at his home club HC Litvínov, but received no contract for the following season. As a result, he was employed as a junior coach in the club. Two years later, from the 41st match day of the 2006/07 season, Rosol was again assistant coach at HC Litvínov, this time under head coach Jaroslav Hübl senior . This coaching duo stayed in office until the end of the 2008/09 season. Then Rosol looked after for three years as head coach of the HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi from the second Czech division . With the team he was second division champion in the 2010/11 season, but missed promotion in the extraliga relegation. In the summer of 2012 he returned to the extra league as a coach for HC Litvínov.

In October 2013, Rosol was dismissed from HC Litvínov and two months later took over the post of head coach at HC České Budějovice from the 1st division. In the 2016/17 season he was in charge of EHC Uzwil from the Swiss Regio League .

International

For Czechoslovakia , Rosol took part in the junior division in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1982 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 1984 . At the U18 European Championship in 1982 he and his team won the silver medal, at the U20 World Cup in 1984 the bronze medal. He was also able to convince personally and was elected to the All-Star Team at both tournaments. He was also top scorer at the U18 European Championship in 1982.

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 1985 , 1986 , 1987 , 1991 and 1992 World Championships . He also stood in the line-up of Czechoslovakia at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and 1992 in Albertville and 1987 at the Canada Cup . At the 1985 World Cup he won the gold medal with Czechoslovakia and the bronze medal at the 1987 and 1992 World Championships. At the 1992 Winter Olympics, he and his team also won the bronze medal.

For the Czech Republic he took part in the 1993 World Cup, where he won the bronze medal with his team.
