Jérémie Blain (born March 19, 1992 in Longueuil , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player on the position of defender who has been under contract with the Czech club HC Sparta Prague since 2018 . His brother Luc-Olivier Blain is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Jérémie Blain was selected in the QMJHL Entry Draft in the second round in the second round in 2008 by the Tigres de Victoriaville in the top junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (QMJHL) and played for the Tigres and Titan d'Acadie in his rookie season -Bathurst . In 2009/10, as assistant captain for the Titans, he was able to achieve six goals and 36 assists in 69 games, making him the team's defender with the highest points. In 2010/11 he missed 28 games due to a foot injury, but was again the strongest defender of the Titans with 41 points in 44 games and also achieved a plus / minus balance of +17. In the NHL Entry Draft 2010 he was picked in the fourth round in 91st place by the Edmonton Oilers , but never played for this team. He started the 2011/12 season again with the Titans and achieved 24 points and a plus / minus balance of +7 in 29 games.
In January 2012 he moved back to the Tigres and also convinced there with 26 points and a +25 in 29 missions. Until they were eliminated in the playoffs, the Tigres were the most dangerous team in the league. Since he had not received a contract from the Oilers, he entered the NHL Entry Draft 2012 , but was no longer elected there.
The 2012/13 season he started with the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League (AHL) and managed four points in 25 missions, but ended the season with the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL . There he scored 31 points and a +11 in 47 missions. In July 2013 he signed a three-year entry level contract with the Vancouver Canucks . in the following two seasons he played alternately for the Vancouver farm team Utica Comets in the AHL and the Kalamazoo Wings in the ECHL. For the Comets he came to only twenty missions with four points, while he scored 46 points in 71 missions for the Wings.
In 2015/16 he played again for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL and the Brampton Beast in the ECHL. He made 52 appearances with five goals and 22 assists. In November 2016 he signed a contract with the European club EC Villacher SV from Austria, where he replaced defender Mikko Jokela . He had been under contract with HC Innsbruck since April 2017, before he made use of a release clause from his contract in May 2018 and moved to the Czech club HC Sparta Prague in the Extraliga .
