history

Jühlitzer Strasse to the north

Jühlitz was first mentioned in 1491 as gulitz . The place name, which comes from Polabian , describes a settlement on a bare, unforested place. The place no longer appears in the Schmettauschen map series from 1767/87, before the place reappeared around 1840 with the Jühlitz spelling that is still used today . At the beginning of the 20th century, the settlement is recorded as Colonie Gülitz . Jühlitz had been part of the Ruppinian District of the Mark Brandenburg since 1524 and then remained with the district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg, which was continued as the District of Ruppin .

On January 1, 1937, Jühlitz was incorporated into Friedrichsbruch . From 1952 the place belonged to the Kyritz district , on January 1, 1958, the community moved to the Rathenow district . On July 1, 1965, the community Friedrichsbruch was dissolved and the districts incorporated into Großderschau. Jühlitz has been in the Havelland district since December 1993 .
