Jacob Philipp Albrecht Jungclaussen (born November 2, 1788 in Oldenburg in Holstein , † December 3, 1860 in Ottensen ) was a German high school teacher and director.

Life

Jacob Philipp Albrecht Jungclaussen was a son of the cantor and organist Balthasar Jungclaussen and his wife Margaretha Catharina, nee. Michelsen. From October 9, 1805 to Michaelis 1808, he attended the Christianeum high school in Altona, where his relative Nicolaus Jungclaussen (1770–1823) worked as a cantor. From Michaelis 1808 he studied, first at the University of Göttingen , from 1809 to 1811 at the University of Kiel and from Michaelis from 1811 to 1814 at the University of Berlin . For the last two years he was also the inspector of the alumni at the Joachimsthal Gymnasium .

In 1814 he became rector of the school of scholars in Glückstadt , which at that time was the administrative seat for Holstein in the entire Danish state . In 1817, Jungclaussen, a representative of the Enlightenment , took part in the dispute over the 95 theses of the Kiel pastor Claus Harms by reprimanding the unlearned translators of the contradicting theses of the Consistorial Councilor Jasper Boysen . His main intention was to "draw attention to the hideous way in which the feud had been conducted so far".

In 1837 he was appointed to Schleswig as rector of the cathedral school . He became the successor to Georg Friedrich Schumacher . Jungclaussen had to experience that the school suffered greatly from the consequences of the Schleswig-Holstein survey . The number of pupils fell from 135 (1847) to 27 (Easter 1851) and then only recovered slowly. Jungclaussen himself remained loyal to the entire Danish state and was awarded the Dannebrogden for it in October 1851 . In 1855 he retired.

He was married to Dorothea Elisabeth geb. Bay († April 10, 1839 in Schleswig). Of the couple's children, Hermann Julius Jungclaussen (1818–1896) was pastor in Rieseby and Karby ; he was the father of Pastor Julius Jungclaussen (1854-1921). Wilhelm Theodor Jungclaussen (1820–1903) also became a teacher, deputy principal in Meldorf and later in Flensburg . Christian Albrecht Jungclaussen (1823–1903) became a pharmacist in Hamburg-St. Georg; he was the father of the pharmacist Caesar Albrecht Jungclaussen (1855-1916).
