Jakob Izbicki

Jakob Robert Izbicki (born May 2, 1956 in Dzierżoniów ) is a visceral surgeon and professor at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Jakob Izbicki completed his medical degree at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in 1982 . After working at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and at clinics in Hanover and Cologne, he moved to the Surgical Clinic and Polyclinic in the Inner City Clinic of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . There he completed his habilitation in surgery in 1990 . In 1992 he came to the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf as deputy department director under the then director Christoph Broelsch . First he became provisional director in 1998 , and since 2002 he has held the chair and director of the clinic and polyclinic for general, visceral and thoracic surgery at the UKE. He is also a member of the board of the University Cancer Center Hamburg (UCCH).

Act

Jakob Izbicki's scientific specialty is surgical oncology , surgical gastroenterology including minimally invasive surgery as well as hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, thoracic surgery and esophagus surgery . He has published numerous international papers, monographs, handbooks and operating instructions. Furthermore, he is co-editor or member of the editorial board of numerous medical journals and is active on the review committee of many specialist journals.

In 2004 and 2011 he headed the 174th and 188th meetings of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons .
