Georg Ernst Konjetzny

Georg Ernst Konjetzny (born April 2, 1880 in Gliwice , Upper Silesia , † February 10, 1957 in Hamburg ) was a German surgeon and university professor.

Life

Konjetzny studied medicine at the Silesian Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität and became a member of the Suevia Breslau gymnastics club. In 1906 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. With Wilhelm Anschütz , the student and son-in-law of Johann von Mikulicz , he went to the surgical clinic of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel as a scientific assistant . There he completed his habilitation in 1913. Since 1921 senior physician , in 1929 he was elected chief physician at the Chemnitz Clinic . In 1930 he moved to the Dortmund Municipal Hospitals .

During the Nazi era , he became a member of the SA in 1933 . In 1934 he also joined the SS as a supporting member . Temporarily full professor at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald , he followed the call of the University of Hamburg to its chair for surgery in 1935 . As director he was in charge of the surgical clinic at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf . In 1936 he joined the Nazi lecturers' association and in 1937 the NSDAP . From 1936 he was an advisory surgeon in the Wehrmacht . Since 1940 he was a member of the Senate of the Colonial Medical Academy of the NSDAP . In the post-war period , the University of Hamburg reinstated him in its Eppendorf directorate in 1947, despite his National Socialist past. As early as 1947 Konjetzny discussed the infectious etiology of ulcer formation in his monograph The ulcer formation in the stomach, duodenum and jejunum . It was later recognized in Helicobacter pylori . In 1947 and 1949 he headed the 60th and 64th meetings of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons . From 1946 to 1950 he was its secretary. 1950 Konjetzny was 70 years emeritus . His successor in Eppendorf was Albert Lezius .

Street names in Langenhorn

A street in Hamburg-Langenhorn was named after him. In 2015, the regional committee decided to rename the streets named after Max Nonne and Konjetzny because of their proximity to National Socialism. Konjetznystraße was named after Annie Kienast in 2016 .
