Friedrich Pels Leusden

Friedrich Pels Leusden (also Pels-Leusden ; born August 12, 1866 in Willich ; †  March 16, 1944 in Mehlem ) was a German surgeon, university professor and local politician.

Life

Friedrich Pels Leusden attended elementary school and grammar school in Lüdenscheid . He passed the Abitur at the Goetheschule Wetzlar . He began to study medicine at the Philipps University and became active in the Corps Teutonia Marburg in 1887 . When he was inactive , he moved to the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . He received his doctorate in Würzburg in 1891. He then worked as an assistant at the Pathological Institute in Marburg. From 1896 to 1899 he worked in Göttingen . He then accepted an assistant position in Berlin , where he completed his habilitation in 1900 . He was a private lecturer in surgery at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität , and from 1904 to 1911 head of the surgical university clinic at the Charité . In 1911 he went to the Royal University of Greifswald , where he became full professor of surgery. He held the chair until 1934 and was rector of the university several times during this time. The establishment of what was then a modern X-ray department goes back to him. In 1923, 1930 and 1934 he headed the 26th, 40th and 48th meetings of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons . He belonged to the citizenship college of the city of Greifswald as well as the Pomeranian provincial parliament and was a member of the provincial committee. Pels Leusden wrote papers on the pathology of bones and joints, abdominal surgery and interventions on the sympathetic nervous system . His surgical operation theory was published several times. He was involved in the lexicon of the entire therapy .
