Werner Kothe

Werner Kothe (born September 15, 1919 in Chemnitz ; † October 5, 2010 ) was a German emeritus for surgery .

Life

Kothe studied medicine at the University of Leipzig . In July 1945 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He completed his surgical specialist training at the Küchwald Hospital in Chemnitz . In 1952 he went to Herbert Uebermuth at the Leipzig University Hospital as a senior physician . In 1958 he completed his habilitation. In 1962 he was appointed to the surgical chair at the University of Greifswald . In Moscow he expanded his knowledge of esophagus surgery . In 1967 he returned to Leipzig as the successor to his boss. In 1981 he headed the XIII. Congress of the Society for Surgery of the GDR . After 18 years at the Leipzig chair, he retired in 1985.
