Carl Hueter

Carl Hueter (born November 27, 1838 in Marburg , † May 12, 1882 in Greifswald ) was a German surgeon, university professor and politician (MdR).

biography

As the son of Carl Christoph Hueter , professor for surgery and obstetrics in Marburg, Carl Hueter began his medical studies at Philipps University in 1854 . He became a member of the Corps Teutonia Marburg , which reciprocated him on June 14, 1855 . He finished his studies in 1858 with the state examination in Kassel. In 1859 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . From 1861 to 1863 Hueter worked at the Anatomical Institute in Paris, where he examined human joints. From 1863 to 1864 he was initially an assistant in Marburg and then in Berlin with Rudolf Virchow . After participating in the German-Danish War , Hueter went to Bernhard von Langenbeck as an assistant doctor in 1865 , where he qualified as a professor in 1868 . The University of Rostock appointed him to succeed Gustav Simon . Hueter went from Mecklenburg to Western Pomerania at the beginning of 1870 and took over the chair at the University of Greifswald . He took part in the Franco-German War as a medical officer. For the academic year 1877/78 he was elected rector of the University of Greifswald. During this time Hueter founded the German journal for surgery with the Strasbourg surgeon Albert Lücke . It was published by the Leipzig publisher FCW Vogel. In the following decades it was published by Wilhelm Anschütz , Ferdinand Sauerbruch and August Bier , among others . Hueter was elected to the Reichstag (German Empire) for the Liberal Association in the Reichstag election in 1881 . There he joined the faction of the German Progressive Party as an intern . He was married to Marie geb. Harder from Barkow in the district of Greifenberg i. Pom. He was the brother of Victor Hüter , professor of gynecology in Marburg, who later died in Göttingen. The so-called Hueter triangle or the Hueter line for orientation at the elbow is named after Hueter.
