Ulrich Hopt

Ulrich Theodor Hopt (born January 23, 1948 in Spaichingen ) is a German doctor, surgeon and university professor, formerly professor of surgery in Rostock and Freiburg. His main focus is on tumor surgery of the digestive tract and organ transplantation ( liver , pancreas , kidney ).

Education and clinical career

Ulrich Theodor Hopt was born to a couple of doctors. After graduating from high school in Rottweil (1966), he studied human medicine at the University of Munich from 1967 to 1972 . In 1972 he passed the medical state examination at the University of Munich. 1973-1974 he was a medical assistant at the district hospital Spaichingen and the Municipal Hospital Munich-Schwabing . 1974 to 1975 he was medical officer at Jagdgeschwader 74 in Neuburg an der Donau . In 1975 he was at the University of Munich for MD PhD . In his dissertation he dealt with the effect of aldosterone on the mortality rate and the electrolyte and water balance in severe scalds . From 1975 to 1984 he was an assistant doctor in Spaichingen, at the Surgical University Clinic in Tübingen , at the Surgical University Clinic of the University of Colorado Denver (USA), at the Surgical University Clinic at the University of Minnesota , Minneapolis (USA) and at the Accident Clinic of Tübingen .

From 1984 to 1994 he was a senior physician and senior physician in charge of the general surgery department of the Tübingen University Surgical Clinic. In 1984 he was at the University of Tübingen habilitation and then he was from 1984 to 1991 Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Tuebingen. 1985 Recognition of the trauma surgery branch . From 1991 to 1994 he was associate professor for surgery at the University of Tübingen. From 1994 to 2001 he was a full professor of surgery at the University of Rostock . 1997 Recognition of the optional advanced training in Special Surgical Intensive Care Medicine and the focus on visceral surgery. From 2001 to 2016 he was a full professor of surgery at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .
