Jalil (born March 13, 1987 in West Berlin , formerly known as Reason ) is a German rapper of African American descent from Berlin .

Career

In 2004 Jalil, who was born and grew up in the Thermometeriedlung in Berlin-Lichterfelde , appeared for the first time on a sampler from Sha-Karl 's Big Bud Records label. This was followed by further guest contributions on albums by Sha-Karl and Sady K , before he switched to the Amstaff / Murderbass label in 2008 and published his first solo album Strassenpolitik for free download on the Internet. In the same year, Jalil became known to a larger audience through his appearance on the song Mehr Kohlen on the collaboration album Südberlin Masculin, the rapper Frank White and Godsilla . This was followed by guest contributions on the following solo albums Flers and Sillas, before the 2010 mixtape Weisse Jungs haben ist nicht, also available for free download. Shortly afterwards, Jalil announced the end of his rap career on Facebook , which he soon withdrew and instead announced his comeback.

In 2011, the rapper announced that he was no longer allowed to use his name Reason due to patent rights. Since then he has performed under his real name Jalil. In January 2012 he released his first commercially available EP Sinneswandel on D-Bo's label Wolfpack Entertainment .

After Jalil released his album Radikal on the Onemillion Berlin label in 2014, he returned to Fler 's Masculine label in 2015 . Shortly thereafter, his next album, Das Leben haben kein Air System, was announced, which was released on October 2, 2015 and reached number 15 in the German charts. On June 30, 2017, the collaboration album Epic , on which Jalil collaborated with Fler, was released. It entered the German album charts at number 1 .

On August 10, 2018, he released his third solo album, Black Panther. Since then he has called his fan base, which also has its own Discord server, "Swish Gang". In 2019 he ended his cooperation with Fler and dissolved his contract with Masculin . In May 2019, Jalil announced that it had signed a label deal with Sony Music .
