Jackson started playing tennis at the age of eight. Her father Ernie Jackson was cornerback with the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League in the 1970s . From 2003 she took part in the ITF tour and was able to win two titles in singles. At the WTA level, she reached the final of the 2006 tournament in Birmingham , but lost to Vera Swonaryova extremely narrowly with 7: 6 12 and 7: 6 5 . In the same year she played in the American Fed Cup team and won her games against Anna-Lena Grönefeld and Martina Müller against Germany . From the end of 2006, however, she suffered from hip pain and therefore underwent an operation in 2007. After an eight-month break, she returned to the tour in April 2008, but had to sit out again after the US Open due to her injury. In 2009 she finally announced her resignation.
