Life
James Cosmo is the son of actor James Copeland . He attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and then the Bristol Old Vic Drama School . He has appeared in numerous cinema and television productions for almost four decades. He made his debut in 1969 in the World War II epic Battle of Britain . This type-cast pattern was followed with the cast of Cosmos as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch , Jeor Mormont , in the TV series Game of Thrones .
He received the Liftetime Achievement Award at the Sunday Mail / McEwan's People's Film Festival for his achievements in front of the camera and his private charitable work .
