Jan Raekelboom (often also Jesse Raekelboom ; born May 20, 1978 in Merksem ) is a Belgian ice hockey player who has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks in the Belgian National League since 2016 .
Career
Jan Raekelboom, who was born in Merksem, which is now part of Antwerp, played at the beginning of his career as an ice hockey player with the Phantoms in the neighboring district of Deurne . In addition to playing in the second Belgian league, he was already used in the honor division at the age of 16 . Except for a year, which he spent with the Tilburg Trappers Dutch honor division and crowned it with victory in the Dutch cup competition , he remained loyal to the Phantoms until 1999, where he played with the club since 1997 in the Dutch and not in the Belgian league. In 1996 and 1998 he won the Belgian cup competition with the team , so that he won a total of three cup titles in two different countries in a row. After two years with the Ruijters Eaters Geleen in the Dutch honor division, he moved back to the Tilburg Trappers in 2001. In 2003 he returned to his Belgian homeland and has since played for IHC Leuven in the Belgian honor division . This marked the beginning of the club from Flemish Brabant's most successful period to date , with Raekelboom not only winning their first cup in 2006, but also their three championship titles in 2005, 2010 and 2013 . In 2011/12 he also took part in the Dutch-Belgian North Sea Cup with his club . Since 2016 he has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks in the National League , the second highest Belgian division.
International
With the men's national team , Raekelboom took part in the C2 world championships in 1995 , the D world championships in 1996 , 1997 , 1998 and 2000 , the world championships in Division II in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 and 2013 as well as in the World Championships in Division I. 2004 part.
