Johannes Adrianus Albertus "Jan" Smeekens (born February 11, 1987 in Raalte ) is a Dutch speed skater who specializes in sprint routes.

Jan Smeekens made his debut at the World Cup in Milwaukee in November 2005 . The 500-meter junior European champion in 2005 and vice junior European champion in the 2004 team has been in the top 10 twice in the World Cup so far (November 2006). In 2006 he was the Dutch runner-up in the 500-meter course behind Jan Bos , leaving stars like Erben Wennemars , Gerard van Velde , Lars Elgersma and Stefan Groothuis behind.

At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, Smeekens reached sixth place over 500 meters. Four years later he won silver over the same distance in a Dutch triple victory in Sochi .
