Janet Marie Chvatal

Janet Marie Chvatal (born September 26, 1964 in Florida ) is an American soprano , author and producer, who became known especially in Germany for the role of Empress Elisabeth in the musical Ludwig² .

biography

She completed her music studies with summa cum laude at Boston University before she continued singing operas in Paris and Vienna. a. studied with Mady Mesplé . At the age of 19 she played her first two musical lead roles for the Green Mountain Guild Opera Company in Vermont : Magnolia in Show Boat and the title role in Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience . After her debut with Perrin Manzer Allen in the female lead at the 25th anniversary of The Fantasticks (the longest-running show on Broadway ), her first European engagement took her to Vienna, where she played Christine Daaè in Andrew from 1990 to 1992 Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera played.

From 1993 to 1998 she performed for AIDA Events with Cirque du Soleil and Riverdance - The Show and for conductors Daniel Barenboim and Madonna in Germany. In the US, Chvatal sang theme songs for Nike and Adidas advertisements and on records for Sony and BMG Music Entertainment.

In 1998, Chvatal founded her own CD labels Miramont Records and Secret Couch Productions in the USA. She has released several CDs , orchestral arrangements and hosted concerts with classical guitarist Scott Kritzer. In 2003 she could be heard with Gino Vannelli on his gold-winning CD “Canto” and in concert at the Montreal Jazz Festival .

In 2004 Chvatal got her first engagement as a production coordinator in Germany for the world premiere of the musical Ludwig² in the Musiktheater Füssen. From 2005 to 2007 she played the main role of Sissi (Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary ) in the musical Ludwig² and was seen in various television shows, such as B. in the ZDF television garden or the melodies of the mountains (ARD).

Chvatal has been working as an artist, director, author and producer in Europe and the USA since 2005 and, together with her production and stage partner Marc Gremm, develops CD projects, concepts and her own stage productions as well as open-air concerts, benefit concerts and film and musical galas.

With Karlheinz Böhm and his aid organization Menschen für Menschen , Chvatal organized an anniversary benefit gala in 2006 on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. Along with Peter Maffay they performed in a concert for the aid campaign Drachenkinder of Radio 7 on. From 2009 to 2011 Chvatal & Gremm was responsible for the artistic direction of a series of benefit and family concerts in Neuschwanstein Castle. The net proceeds went to the Königswinkel Children's Cancer Aid. In 2012 she produced a musical gala sound patterns with which they celebrated the tenth anniversary of UNESON.

Musical writer, director

In 2012, Chvatal and Gremm produced the musical Die Legende des… liebes Rot-Flüh under the name Janet & Marc . The libretto, written by Chvatal based on a book by Gudrun Meisriemler, tells the story of the origins of the Tyrolean 5-star hotel ... liebes Rot-Flüh in Haldensee near Tannheim , embedded in legends about the Tannheim Valley . The premiere was in February 2012. The music comes from the composer Nic Raine.

Chvatal directed a production of Stephen Sondheim's musical Into the Woods in England in 2014 .

In 2016, Chvatal and Gremm conceived and produced the first musical on a ship with scenes on land. Chvatal wrote the libretto for it. The premiere of The Swan Prince - Live Your Dream , a "musical adventure trip", took place on July 30, 2016 on the Forggensee in Bavaria .

In 2017 Chvatal wrote the children's book The Swan Prince - Guardian of Our Dreams . The book tells the story of the young hero who cares about people's happiness. In 2017 the musical Der Schwanenprinz - Live your dream by Chvatal and Gremm was revised and performed at the Roßhaupten hydroelectric power station .
